It is a city in the Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach Metropolitan Area. The initial settlers were the Timucuan Indians; during the American Civil war, George Sauls along-with his family settled here in 1859. Due to the presence of more than 100 lakes within its limits, the city was originally named Deltona Lakes and was incorporated in 1995. The city has a population of more than 85,000 citizens as per the 2010 census. The city also works as a commuter for the workers from nearby Orlando and Daytona Beach.
