Founded in the early 1970s, Fontainebleau is a census designated place (CDP) that is located in Florida’s Miami-Dade County. Fontainebleau is named after a luxury resort in the area known as the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel, and was originally owned by Ben Novack. Ben wanted to develop his own golf course and community within the area under the name ‘Fontainebleau Park’, but was unable to do so due to financial constraints.
Today, Fontainebleau stands firm as a CDP and is home to a community of about 60,000 people. The total area of Fontainebleau is about 4.5 square miles at an elevation of 3 feet, according to the U.S Census Bureau.
