Situated in the Northern region of Florida known as the ‘Big Bend’, Jefferson County is located in the U.S that was founded in January 1827. This area is named after Thomas Jefferson, a renowned U.S president who was the third president in U.S presidential history. The community has its county seat in the city of Monticello, which is also the largest city. Apart from Monticello, there are five other Census-designated places namely Aucilla, Lamont, Wacissa, Lloyd, and Waukeenah that are also an official part of this community. The total geographical area is 657 square miles, and the total population in 2019 was recorded at 14,246.
